Mobile County Communications District Community Outreach
Children as young as three or four years old are able to make life-saving calls for help in the event of an emergency. The Mobile County Communications District regularly participates in events geared towards providing children with tips on Calling 9-1-1. We even provide literature and activity books to prepare children if they have to make emergency calls.
In addition to our youth events, we offer presentations throughout the community for groups of all ages. We are available for nursery schools, day care centers, schools (pre-K to 12th grade), community groups and senior citizens’ groups. If you would like us to deliver a public education presentation for your organization, call (251) 639-2360.
The Mobile County Communications District provides tours of the Communications Center (9-1-1 Center) state-of-the-art facility.
If your group is interested in touring the center, please call (251) 639-2360.
The 9-1-1 Kids Program is an opportunity to provide public education to teach children the proper use of 9-1-1 within Mobile County.
The 9-1-1 Kids Program is coordinated by several employees of the Communications Center. Children will watch an educational video titled, “The Great 9-1-1 Adventure” which features Red E Fox and his friends reminding us not to play on 9-1-1 and educating us on when to call 9-1-1.
9-1-1 activity pages are handed out along with goodie bags full of 9-1-1 memorabilia such as stickers, pencils, pens, drinking cups, bracelets, etc.
To maintain a level of excitement, the children have the opportunity to see a real-life firetruck and police car!
If you are interested in scheduling a field trip to the Communications Center or if you would like us to present at your school, please contact us at (251) 639-2360.
